If you are a permanent employee and member of CUPE 2926, you are a member of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS). OMERS is a pension plan that is administered by a board consisting of Employer Representatives and Labour Representatives.
What does our Collective Agreement say about OMERS?
ARTICLE 19.01(i)
OMERS Pension Plan – The Employer shall participate in the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System. It is a condition of employment with the Employer that each full-time employee become a member of OMERS, contributing payment as required by the system through payroll deduction. The Employer will contribute an equal amount to the fund to aid in providing a retirement pension.
